Sébastien Buemi has been a title contender in the first three Formula E seasons, and is one of the most successful drivers in the series. He missed out by a handful of points in 2014-15 to Nelson Piquet before securing the title in 2015-16.
In 2016-17, Buemi won five of the first six races to take a commanding lead in the title race. The Swiss driver had to miss the New York double-header due to commitments in the World Endurance Championship. A disqualification in the first Montreal race did not help his cause, and Buemi was unable to defend his title.
Season 4 did not go his way, and he finished his 2017-18 campaign with no victories in the bag. After Renault’s exit from the fully-electric championship and Nissan NISMO’s arrival, the Swiss will race for the Japanese squad, along with Britain’s Oliver Rowland.
