Granado tops the order in Jerez FP1

2020 race winner Eric Granado topped the first MotoE free practice session of the season in Spain.

The One Energy Racing rider managed a 1m48.057s lap time around the Jerez circuit, six-tenths of a second quicker than his pole position time last season.

Granado topped the order late in the session, knocking Dominique Aegerter off the top spot.

Aegerter was the early pace setter, a 1m48.134s lap putting him almost a second quicker than the rest of the field. Granado and reigning champion Jordi Torres gradually chipped at his advantage before Granado managed a time 0.077s quicker than the Dynavolt Intact GP rider.

Aegerter couldn’t find any further improvement and ended the session second ahead of Torres and Matteo Ferrari.

A number of riders had their lap times removed for exceeding track limits, but it had little impact on the top of the order.

Championship newcomerFermin Aldeguer found improvements with his final lap of the session to go fifth quickest, 0.002s behind Ferrari and ahead of Mattia Casadei and early front runner Miquel Pons.

Andrea Mantovani, Yonny Hernandez and Alessandro Zaccone completed the top 10.
