Venturi development driver selected for McLaren GT programme

Venturi development driver Michael Benyahia has been selected for McLaren’s GT Driver Development Programme.

Benyahia joined Venturi in 2017 and ran for the squad in the 2017-18 pre-season testing in Valencia. He also competed in the rookie test after the 2018 Marrakesh Eprix, where he was the youngest of 20 runners.

The 19-year-old has spent 2019 competing in the ADAC GT4 German championship, where he picked up his first GT win at the Nurburgring, and selected rounds of the GT4 European Series.

Benyahia was one of four drivers selected from a pool of 18 after an assessment day at Snetterton in October. He competed in a series of on and off track tests, which included data analysis, fitness tests, and media interviews.

As part of the programme, Benyahia will compete in a McLaren 570S GT4 car in the British GT next year.
