Ahead of their third season in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Jaguar Racing launched their Season 5 challenger, as well as announcing the lineup for the 2018-19 season.
Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr. will be teammates once again. The big cat's motorsports comeback has been a fruitful one so far, and the duo will continue to target wins, with championships being the ultimate goal. Chinese driver Ho Pin Tung remains as the team's reserve driver.
"Last season was our best to date and I scored some personal records including our first podium in Hong Kong and pole position in Zurich", commented Evans, who made his Formula E debut along with Jaguar Racing, in Season 3.
It took Evans a brief time to establish himself as one of Formula E's strongest prospects. Should he experience no misfortunes during the races, he would likely become a regular on the Top 5. The European leg of Season 4 is proof of this.
"Having been in the championship since day one I’ve developed as a driver with the technology and evolution of the Formula, and it’s amazing to see how fast things have changed", expressed Piquet Jr.
There is little to add about the Brazilian that is not known. His hungry for victories is always there, and now he gets another chance to go for more wins and successes in the fully-electric championship.
"Panasonic Jaguar Racing have made great progress during our short time in Formula E. We expect that the introduction of the new Generation 2 Formula E racecar and revised sporting regulations will result in a very close season of racing", added James Barclay, Jaguar Racing's Team Director.
Along with Jaguar Racing's debut in Season 5 in December 15th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Jaguar's I-PACE eTROPHY will make its premiere as the support-series, with a calendar that has been recently announced .
